The 22^nd Congress of the KKE will be held from  29 to 31January 2026 under the slogan
“A POWERFUL KKE, STEADFAST IN EVERY TRIAL, READY TO ANSWER HISTORY’S CALL FOR SOCIALISM”

In its announcement regarding the 22^nd Congress, which is to be held from 29 to 31 January  2026, the Central Committee of the KKE made the following statement:

1. The Central Committee of the KKE announces that the 22^nd regular Party Congress will be held from 29 to 31 January 2026. The theses of the Central Committee for the 22^nd Congress will be published in Rizospastis on 4–5 October. These will then be discussed in the Party’s and KNE’s guiding organs and organizations, as well as in the public pre-Congress discussion through Rizospastis and the Communist Review (KOMEP).

2. A year ago, entering the final stretch for the 22^nd Congress, the Central Committee of the KKE circulated the Central Committee’s Resolutions to the Party for discussion. These resolutions covered the following topics: a) Developments on the fronts of the imperialist war and our tasks, b) The course of party building within the Party and KNE, c) The ideological and political work of the Party and the course of Rizospastis,  and d) Conclusions from our action in the workers’–trade union movement and the struggles of the people. These Resolutions were the subject of rich discussion within the Party and KNE, and more broadly within the Greek society, leading to critical assessments and conclusions. The Theses of the Central Committee of the KKE for the 22^nd Congress summarize and incorporate the substantial discussion that preceded them. Through the pre-Congress discussion and the work of the Congress itself, the Party is expected to take another big and solid step in developing all its contemporary revolutionary characteristics.

3. The main slogan of the 22^nd Congress is: “A powerful KKE, steadfast in every trial, ready to answer history’s call for socialism”. This slogan also reflects the main theme of the Congress, namely the need for the Party to fully harmonize with its revolutionary Programme and Statutes at a faster and more effective pace, to  truly become a “party ready for all situations” in order to lead our people’s struggle for socialism. Implementing this task is of urgent importance during a period of rapid and complex developments, where there are increasing demands to respond to difficult conditions and abrupt changes in which imperialist competition, military confrontations and the capitalist economic crisis are more likely —compared to other periods— to lead to the mass radicalization of the working class and popular forces, an intensification of the class struggle, and even the destabilization of capitalist power. The contradictions within the capitalist system intensify, interact and can create a situation of mass mobilization and the possibility of uprisings or even revolutionary conditions, which of course arise objectively and at unpredictable times. Without ruling out any possibility, it has been historically confirmed at both the European and international levels that, under these conditions, the ideological–political and organizational readiness of the Communist Party is determined, and that its ability to respond to the demands of class struggle requires long-term preparation and struggle. This process starts in the current conditions, where there is growing popular discontent and increasing possibilities for strengthening the mass character and orientation of the current of dissent. Based on these criteria, the Congress will discuss the report of the Central Committee and the entire Party between the 21^st and the 22^nd Congresses, set the tasks for the next period, and elect the new Central Committee and Central Audit Committee in accordance with the Party’s Statutes.

4. With a spirit of responsibility, pride, and combative and realistic optimism, we welcome the 22^nd Congress of the KKE. We are committed to promoting our Programme for a life free from exploitation and imperialist wars, with dignity and social prosperity befitting the contemporary needs of the working class, other popular forces, and youth in the 21^st century. We call on Party and KNE members to do their utmost to ensure the success of the Rizospastis campaign, so that the Central Committee’s Theses reach the working class, the people and the youth as widely as possible. We also call on friends of the KKE and workers to contribute to the discussion ahead of the 22^nd Congress, while strengthening their solidarity with the KKE and reinforcing the current of resistance and questioning of the dominant policy.

5. The best way to ensure the success of the 22^nd Congress is to combine its proceedings with the recruitment of thousands of new Party and KNE members, and the establishment of robust new organizations, particularly in workplaces. To this end, the Central Committee is announcing a friendly competition between Party organizations to encourage building and recruitment. We are intensifying our efforts to ensure that all Regional Organizations achieve their building and recruitment targets by the end of 2025 by strengthening and developing their organized forces.  The criteria for the friendly competition will include the fulfilment of the recruitment plan, the percentage of salaried employees recruited, the building of Workers’ PBOs, the percentage of women recruited, the development of KNE, and the increase in the circulation and dissemination of Rizospastis. The leading organizations will be awarded at the opening of the 22^nd Congress. We are confident that we can succeed if, among the overall tasks set before us by the class struggle at this time, we give emphasis to the combined effort to convince people that the struggle for what is great, beautiful, and utterly amazing, i.e. for socialism, through the ranks of the KKE is worth any sacrifice.
