The National Congress of PAME has been successfully completed

With a new impetus in the struggle for strong trade unions leading in the struggle for the needs of the workers

The National Congress of PAME, which was held on 18–19 June in Athens, was one of the most collective, substantial, and lively processes of the labour movement. In total, more than 2,000 trade unionists took part in the Congress representing 506 trade union organizations and hundreds of thousands of workers all over the country.

More than 100 trade unionists took the floor during the Congress, conveying rich experience from the activity to organize the struggle in the workplaces and particularly from important workers’ struggles that took place in large workplaces and sectors in the past years.

Moreover, the presence of 31 international delegations of trade union organizations from 19 countries was of great importance, while Pambis Kyritsis, GS of the World Federation of Trade Unions also attended the Congress.

The works concluded with the voting for the new Secretariat of PAME, which consists of trade union cadres from the public and the private sector. The Secretariat includes presidents and members of executive boards of trade unions, labour centres, and federations that have led all the great struggles during the past years and have become a point of reference for the workers and the people, e.g. from the Federation of Builders, the Federation of Hospital Doctors, LARCO, COSCO, and e-food.
